5.3 Comparing waits
Sometimes two different discards both reach tenpai.
Discarding 3-sou leaves a 56-sou ryanmen. The waits are 4-sou and 7-sou.
Discarding 6-sou leaves a 35-sou kanchan. The only wait is 4-sou.
Each tile has 4 copies, so a ryanmen waits on up to 8 tiles and a kanchan on up to 4.
The more waiting tiles, the easier the agari. That is why ryanmen, with its many waits, is good.
Waits already in your hand are subtracted from the count. A shanpon waits on up to 4 tiles and a tanki on up to 3.
Waits visible in the discards or as the dora indicator are subtracted too. 7-sou is visible as the indicator, so 56-sou waits on up to 7 tiles.
