2.1 Seats

Riichi mahjong is played by four players around a table.

The bottom of the board is your seat.

The player to your right is called shimocha.

The player across from you is called toimen.

The player to your left is called kamicha.

The 東, 南, 西, and 北 in the middle of the board label each seat.

Each player places their discards in front of them.

So you can tell who discarded a tile by where it sits.
